No.1 2002 Shiraz (Sunday Mail 12/09/04) |
Saltram
Shiraz Wins Top Awards.
One of the Barossa Valley’s top-rated wines
has continued its run of success at Perth Royal Wine
Show. Saltram 2002 No.1 shiraz won best dry red table
wine, best shiraz in several classes and best 2002
vintage dry red table wine. Winemaker Nigel Dolan
said he was excited by what the awards meant for the
2002 vintage. “I would consider this No.1 to
be among the best to date as we’ve worked to
create depth and consistency to make it a real Barossa
icon,” he said.”

Better
With Age.
“Steeped in history and made by Australia’s
2003 Jimmy Watson Trophy winner, the highly anticipated
Saltram 2000 No.1 is yet another reminder of how far
the shiraz has come since Saltram’s first wine
was created by William Salter in 1859. The Saltram

No.1 2001 Shiraz (Australian Womens Money
1/12/04) |
Pricey, but
with this super-quality holds its own with other serious
shiraz often costing twice as much. Barossa shiraz
helped put Australia on the world wine map and the
rich, generous qualities of this drop set it apart
from the crowd. Ideal with rare beef, kangaroo fillet
or lamb, and perfect with really aged cheddar. Widely
available.”

No.1 2001 Shiraz (Dorian Wild, City Weekly
9/12/04) |
“Saltram’s
No.1 Barossa Shiraz 2001 is also a wine to curl up
with. Opulent, silky smooth, with layers of haunting
complexity, I took a bottle to a dinner where it made
more expensive drops look silly.”
