Overview

The Winemaker's Selection wines were introduced to allow winemaker experimentation and for special parcels to be separated and show their true colours.

The fruit for these wines, carefully selected by the Saltram winemaker may vary depending on vintage conditions within the region and performance of the Estate vineyards. These limited release, individually numbered wines, will only be released within exceptional vintages for your enjoyment.

Mixed selection contains...

2 x Saltram Winemaker's Selection Sangiovese 2016

This 100% Sangiovese wine was harvested from our estate vineyard at Saltram, near Angaston. The 2016 vintage brought out the best in this parcel of Sangiovese. On the vine the fruit tasted of fresh, dark cherries, complemented by powerful powdery tannins–characters which remained through to the finished wine. With the vineyard now eighteen years of age, it perfectly captures the potential of Sangiovese in this unique aspect and location.

2 x Saltram Winemaker's Selection Shiraz Tempranillo 2016

Fragrant, brambly aromas of blackberries, violets, cassis and star anise, with lingering hints of savoury spice and a flinty lift. The palate is plush and mouth-filling with mulberry cranberry and red-currant fruits, developing on the finish into more structural flavours of Chinotto and juniper. Granitic tannins contribute to the fine linear structure and length. Restrained oak handling brings subtlety to the wine while gently adding aromatic complexity.

2 x Saltram Winemaker's Selection Grenache 2017

The vineyard this wine is produced from was planted around 1930, and is a true testament to the rich history and heritage of the Barossa. The palate is soft and textural with flavours of plush red fruits cured with spices. This is underpinned by savoury tannins and finishes with a cleansing wet stone minerality.
