Edward Salter Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Overview

Overview

In 1859 William Salter formed a partnership with his son Edward, founding the firm W Salter & Son. Edwards commitment to the Barossa wine community for over half a century cemented the foundation of Saltram Wines Estates and contributed to the greater success of the Barossa region that we know today. His understanding of wine and the export market saw him introduce Cabernet Sauvignon to Saltram.

This wine is a salute to the Salter legacy and Edwards dedication, commitment and passion for Cabernet Sauvignon and the Barossa region. The 2023 Edward Salter Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic statement of intensity and finesse.

Vintage Conditions

The 2022/23 growing season was wet and cool, it was the wettest spring since 1992 and the wettest November for well over 100 years. Persistent rainfall events and saturated soils lead to full dams – some dams overflowed during the spring, this water and further rainfall events caused low lying areas to flood with some vineyards going underwater. The rains started to ease back over December as surface moisture dried up and the vines enjoyed some much-needed sunshine.
