The Saltram Winemakers Selection Barossa Valley Grenache is 100% Grenache, hand picked from a single vineyard on the outskirts of Tanunda, harvested on the 17th of March 2012.
The vineyard was planted around 1930, and is therefore classified as a Barossa Survivor Vineyard under the Barossa Old Vine character, as it is greater than seventy years of age.
The Grenache harvested from this vineyard is a true testament to the rich history and heritage of the Barossa.
The handpicked fruit was cold soaked in traditional style open fermenters prior to a warm fermentation. After fermentation the wine was transferred on lees for maturation to a seasoned French oak vat and the balance to seasoned French oak hogsheads. The wine was matured on lees which were stirred intermittently to enhance the wines savoury texture and tannin profile.
