“One of the famous names of the Barossa. It is a wine that has marvelous ageing potential. This one shows deep, rich, supple fruit with a thread of ripe tannins. It’s typically opulent and dense with so much packed into the chocolatey and slightly toasty palate.” - Ray Jordan

"Blackberry compote, a touch of mint essence, five spices and chocolate-covered dark cherries. Full body, loads of juicy tannins, a fine line of fresh acidity and a chewy finish.” - James Suckling

“A lustrous crimson to opaque hue. As dense as the colour alludes. But there is a lightness missing in past years. Less reductive, toned by savvier use of oak. Big company wine, sure, but seductive despite it all. Violet scents sashay to anise, crushed clove and cocoa. Dark plum and blue fruit notes stain the palate. The finish long, gently peppery and uninterrupted by oak tannins which, while apparent, are buried. It has been a while between drinks as good as this under this banner. Bravo.” - Neil Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion

Vintage Conditions

Shiraz fruit was selected from low yielding, mature vineyards in the Barossa.

The 2015/2016 vintage was characterised by a very warm and dry late Spring/early Summer period, finishing with a well-timed rainfall event at the end of January followed by mild weather conditions throughout February. These conditions restricted yields and led to high quality fruit potential.
